What it was like to use my doula services:

The first phone call I had with Erica gave me an incredible sense of peace. Erica’s voice is so calming and she is so knowledgeable about natural childbirth, that it was hard to believe she was a new doula. 

What I really found valuable about Erica was the initial interview she set up for us to go over my birth goals, birth visions/plans, fears, expectations, and any potential problems that could occur. I was able to let her know about some family tension that might cause drama on our birth day and was able to let her know how important a natural birth was for me. Because we had that interview, Erica was able to help my daughter’s father be perfectly supportive during the labor and we avoided any emotional reactions.

Erica attended my daughter’s birth and helped me so much during labor. Her voice and her vibe are both so calming! I really appreciated the support and guidance she provided to my daughter’s father so that he felt empowered to help me. Erica helped me cope with the discomfort of my labor by applying counter pressure, using essential oils to help with nausea, bringing me water, and spraying me with the shower head when my partner took a break. 

As a woman of color, our needs are often ignored during childbirth (the statistics of black women dying during childbirth are alarming) and I felt more comfortable knowing I had Erica as my advocate. It’s so exciting to have met her at the start of her doula journey because I know she will help countless women have their best birth experience.
